Rice is a monocotyledon that belongs to the grass family (Poaceae), and is, after wheat, the most cultivated cereal.
Very demanding in terms of temperature, both air and water. For tillering and tillering, it requires temperatures above 25°C, which is one of the limiting factors for its cultivation on our peninsula. This determines the sowing date and the cultivation of long-cycle varieties.
Cultivation takes place in a wide range of soils, varying in texture from sandy to clayey.
The optimum pH for rice is 6.6.
